A few years ago, my husband and I left our homeland of Latvia and moved to Germany in search of better job opportunities. Although the beverage factory where my husband worked offered good working conditions and income, he had to work on Sundays, making it difficult to keep the Lord's Day holy. Longing earnestly to worship alongside the believers at Latvia Deaf-and-Mute Manmin Church, we eventually left behind the high salary and stable job, returning to Latvia in April 2025. With my husband working as a taxi driver, we were living happily.
Not long after, I became pregnant with our son, Mateo. Believing that God protects with His power when we live according to His Word, we prepared for childbirth during my pregnancy by keeping the Lord's Day holy and attending services and the Daniel Prayer Meeting.
During the divine healing meeting on May 29, my husband and I attended with the thought, "Let us receive prayer now and prepare well for childbirth." When pastor Soojin Lee prayed, my husband placed his hand on my stomach for the normal birth and smooth delivery of our soon-to-be-born child. At that time, we had no idea what kind of event would unfold after the delivery.
And on June 11, Mateo was born. However, the umbilical cord was wrapped around Mateo's neck, and his face had turned blue?even though there had been no signs of trouble right up until the moment of delivery. Because he was unable to breathe properly, the medical team immediately began emergency procedures. Since they could not determine how long the cord had been wrapped around his neck, they explained to us, "The probability of survival for a baby born in this condition is extremely low."
Even as we watched our newborn son in such critical condition, we never lost our faith that God would protect Mateo. As my husband and I prayed earnestly, the medical staff quickly carried out the emergency measures and swiftly untangled the umbilical cord. Before long, Mateo's breathing returned to normal, and he began to recover his health.
Looking back, we believe that the prayer we received from pastor Soojin Lee protected our child in that perilous moment. Experiencing this event made us realize the importance of prayer deep in our hearts. In the past, we had repeatedly gone back and forth between being filled with the Spirit and losing that fullness, but after experiencing Mateo's birth, our life of faith changed completely. Seeing our transformation, people around us also expressed their amazement, saying, "How can people change this much?"
After two months, with Matteo growing healthy and strong, we were able to attend Manmin Summer Retreat from August 3 to 5. The baby slept peacefully without fussing during every service and meeting, and through that, we could feel that God was with us. I give all thanks and glory to Father God who protected Mateo in the midst of a life-threatening crisis and allowed him to grow healthy and strong.
