Kiyoko Tsuzuku | Female, 85 years old, Tokyo, Japan
On July 18 of this year, while riding my bicycle to buy ingredients for a meal, I collided heavily with another bicycle that ran a red light and fell to the ground. Severe pain immediately rushed into my right neck and upper chest, and I couldn’t even raise my right arm. The next day, the pain grew worse, making it difficult even to lie down. Unable to move my body properly, I was eventually unable to go to church and attended the service online. On July 21, three days after the accident, X-ray results showed that my right collarbone was fractured in two places and that my ribs had also suffered a severe impact. The attending physician said it would take at least two months or more to return to normal daily life. At that moment, rather than thinking, "Why didn't God protect me?" I looked back on myself. Before knowing Manmin Central Church, as a Christian, I asked various pastors in Japan about difficult passages in the Bible, but I could not get a clear answer. Then, at the age of 63, I heard about Manmin Central Church through Pastor Kato of Beppu Manmin Church, an acquaintance of mine, and I confessed with tears, "This is the Word I’ve been looking for." Since then, I have lived my life of faith by attending services and Daniel Prayer Meeting, and I am currently serving as the president of Women's Mission and singing in the choir and the Hannah Praise Team. As I went through this experience, I remembered how arrogant I had been despite claiming to serve faithfully, how I had looked down on others, and how I had complained with my lips, so I repented with tears. Especially while singing the fourth verse of Hymn 405, "When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we've first begun," I deeply reflected on whether I, at an age so close to heaven, was truly prepared to go to heaven. For several days, I repented and prayed late into the night, and whenever I could not sleep at night because of the pain, I earnestly received Pastor Soojin Lee's prayer for the sick. Even after that, I repented with tears every day, attended the Special Daniel Prayer Meeting, and earnestly received Pastor Soojin Lee’s recorded prayer at the end of the prayer meeting. When I underwent another X-ray examination a week later, on July 28, the attending physician was amazed, saying that the bone was fusing much faster than expected. Right after the accident, the pain was so severe that I could not raise my right arm upward or sleep at night, but I recovered quickly, and in early August, I was even able to attend Manmin Summer Retreat that I had so earnestly longed for. At the retreat, I was all the more thankful and happy to meet Pastor Soojin Lee in person, receive her prayer, and praise and worship God together with other members. After returning to Japan, I received a third X-ray examination on August 7. The attending physician told me that the bone was fusing well and recovering smoothly. Now I have been completely healed. Hallelujah! Through this experience, I had a precious time not only to recover physically but also to deeply reflect on my heart and repent. I offer all thanks and glory to Father God who guided me to recover quickly even from a major injury so that I could attend the Summer Retreat I had so longed for and experience His grace.
